How did you meet each other?

We met on our very first day at Warwick university back in October 2011. We were randomly assigned to be in the same student flat (along with 6 others) and it took just over a month for us to become more than flatmates! It took a little longer for James to pop the question in July 2021 when we were in St Ives with our springer spaniel, Blue…!

How did you decide on your venue? What did you love about it?

We had always wanted a wedding that felt low-key and intimate with plenty of meaning for us both. Since we first met at university, we had spent many summers together at James’s family home and had always loved the stunning gardens at that time of year. It felt like the natural fit for us!

What were the best moments from your wedding day?

We absolutely loved having time to ourselves when Lou took our photos after the ceremony. It felt so relaxed and we could reflect on the first part of the day together whilst still having the rest to look forward to. Having some of the gorgeous photos from that moment printed in our home always makes us smile.
We also loved the speeches! It made us laugh till we nearly cried and seeing the marquee full of our nearest and dearest all celebrating together felt so special.

Why did you choose me to capture your wedding?

We looked at various styles of photographers and really wanted to have someone who had the same approach to documenting the day as we did - relaxed, genuine and unposed. When we came across Lou’s work we knew immediately that it was exactly what we wanted! The shots we saw were stunning, so we were crossing everything whilst waiting to hear if Lou was available for our date!

What do you love about your photos?

We saw so many special moments throughout our album that we had not seen ourselves on the day! Seeing the hilarious expressions and genuine joy on the faces of our friends and family was such a treat after the wedding. They all capture the mood so perfectly.
The shots that Lou took of us together are our favourite. How on earth she managed to make us look that good!? Magic!

Would you recommend me to your friends? If so why?

Absolutely, without a single hesitation. Yes yes yes! Lou is not only an amazingly talented photographer, but she is the most gorgeous person and the exact personality you need there on your big day! Many times throughout the day we even forgot that Lou was there taking photos as she was doing it so discreetly and we got some fantastic candid shots as a result. So many of our friends and family have commented that they’re the most beautiful wedding photos they’ve seen, and we couldn’t agree more. Book Lou NOW!

If you did it all again, would you do anything differently?

Sorry for sounding cliché, but we had the most incredible time and wouldn’t change a thing! Even the weather couldn’t have been more perfect. Hannah even burst into tears the next morning because she “had the best day ever”!

Do you have any tips for anyone planning their wedding?

Make it personal to you! You don’t need a theme or concept, it should simply be about what the both of you want and enjoy, and means something to you. Our cake was from our local bakery in Uppingham, my dress was from a shop in Nottingham where we bought our first house, our caterers were family friends, my brother played me down the aisle, our school chaplain conducted the service, our florist was local, seasonal, and sustainable etc! Whatever is important or meaningful to you - include it where you can. Knowing these elements are part of the day and what you want makes the process a lot more enjoyable, as it should be!
